Ideas Competition for the TUM-GS transferable skills training
The TUM Graduate School arranges together with the Graduate Council an ideas competition: You are invited to hand in proposals for a course or workshop within our transferable skills training specifically tailored to your needs and interests! The TUM Graduate School will organize the course, taking place within the framework of the TUM GS course program.
The call is open from February 14th until March 17th 2019. Please submit your workshop proposal including the desired topic and format within this time. Among the submitted proposals, a winner will be selected. If your proposal wins the contest, you will be guaranteed a place in the course, free of charge!
Detailed information on the contest, the specific criteria and a form for your proposal will be found on our website as soon as the program for the Summer Semester 2019 is published (Feb 14th, 2019).
TUM Graduate Council
News
On February 7th, 2019, the 58th Meeting of the TUM Graduate Council will be held. Topics will be inter alia the TUM regulations for Diversity and Internationalization as well as their importance for the doctoral candidates, news from the TUM Senate, and projects of the Graduate Council for 2019, such as TUMblue 2019 and the second edition of the TUM Supervisory Award. The meeting will take place in room H.001/002 of the TUM School of Governance – everyone who is interested in the work of the Graduate Council is welcome to join!

Cultural Program for Doctoral Candidates
Guided tour “Munich by Night”
When the honorable citizens go to bed it’s night watch time. Old legends come alive when the night guard talks about historic facts and anecdotes of his century long life. With the flickering lights of its lantern, he will guide us through the historical center. Together we will experience an extraordinary tour through the hidden streets and places of Munich.
When: Saturday, February 9th
Time: 8:45 p.m.
Fee: EUR 4.00

Joint Summer / Winter Schools of the EuroTech Alliance
Call for Applications is open until 31 January 2019!
To enhance exchange and research collaboration between the EuroTech Universities, the EuroTech Alliance is funding selected summer/winter schools, organized by doctoral candidates from at least 3 of the EuroTech Universities for their peers. The topic of the 2-7 day winter/summer school should be interdisciplinary at the cutting edge of science and technology, and be of high relevance for science and society.
If you have a specific interdisciplinary topic in mind that could be developed into a 2-7 day program for at least 15 participants, please discuss the idea of organizing a joint EuroTech winter/summer school with your supervisor. If your supervisors agrees, you need to find 1-2 doctoral candidates from each of the participating EuroTech partner universities. At least 3 of the EuroTech partner universities shall be involved in the organization of the respective joint winter/summer school.
Successful TUM proposals will receive financial support from the TUM to cover all costs on site, amongst others catering (incl. one course welcome dinner), local transport and marketing/course materials. TUM will also cover travel and accommodation expenses of non-EuroTech speakers.
To host a Joint EuroTech winter/summer school, please submit the following documents to the TUM Graduate School (international@gs.tum.de):
- Summer/winter school proposal form
- Detailed summer/winter school proposal (2-3 pages)
- Program (1 page)
- Budget overview
- Support letters from the professors/ academics from at least 3 of the EuroTech partner universities
The application deadline for joint EuroTech winter/summer schools in 2019 is 31 January 2019!

Routes to Publishing – Publication Process, Open Access, Authors' Rights

The course "Routes to Publishing" focuses on the publication process, open access, and authors' rights. All you want to know about scientific publishing is offered to you in this compact course.

We provide an introduction to the scientific publication system, and to how the university library can support you with your publication projects.
