Helmholtz Zentrum München Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Gesundheit und Umwelt

Scientific Training

In scientific training, the students can select and set up their own individual curriculum from an offering of lectures, seminars, and journal clubs (within the different thematic fields), method courses, guest lectures and retreats (interdisciplinary activities) as well as international conferences, research stays and summer schools (international training).

Two thematic fields, Lung Biology and Disease and Radiation Research, are represented by the two Helmholtz Research Schools “Lung Biology and Diseases” and “Radiation Sciences”, founded in 2010 and 2012 respectively. HELENA sets the basic standards and provides a rooftop structure for both Research Schools.

Graduate students may participate in lectures, seminars and courses offered by the universities or other graduate programs. These training activities can also be accredited with HELENA Equivalents if the participation is certified by the respective institutions.
