Animal Welfare Research Award of the BMEL

The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) has announced the 40th Animal Welfare Research Award. It is looking for research work that contributes to replacing animal experiments or reducing their number.

In addition to scientific work that helps to replace or reduce animal experiments, work that contributes to improving the conditions in which laboratory animals are kept can also be submitted.

The prize has been awarded since 1980 and is endowed with 25,000 euros. The evaluation of the submitted research papers and the awarding of the prize are carried out on the recommendation of an independent prize committee.

The deadline for applications is 31 May 2021.

The call for applications for the Animal Welfare Research Award is primarily aimed at young scientists.
