Upcoming events - Open Source Software licenses & Introduction to the Individual Career Development Plan (IDP) and how to get started with it

Dear Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers,

We have two events coming up, register now.

Open Source Software licenses – implications under copyright and contract law as well as legal risks

When: Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 at 2:30 - 4:00 pm.

Chair: INNO

Speaker: Dr. Katarina Casals Ide, M. (P.I.I.)

The use and application Open Source Software provides, in principle, significant technical advantages to the community, including to commercial market players. Still, Open Source Software must not be confused with the “public domain”. Open Source Software use and application is subject to specific terms and obligations to be complied with, particularly in order to avoid third party rights infringements, automatic termination of the obtained license, or even the loss of the right of disposal over one own’s source code.

The purpose of this webinar is to explain (potential) users of Open Source Software the legal background as well as legal risks and consequences of using programs subject to Open Source licenses, and provide users with the respective, basic legal information they may require in support of their decision-making activities when considering the use or when using Open Source Software.
