"Dear PhD Candidates and Postdocs,
You are all highly qualified researchers and there is a high probability that each of you will reach top positions in your fields of work. But do you know all the career paths that are available to you? Do you lack the right contacts in your network? Are inhibitions preventing you from going forward with your career?
Our knowledge-based society needs exceptionally well-educated women, and exceptionally well-educated women need opportunities and places to contribute their knowledge and skills, even outside the university! In order to build this bridge, we are organizing the innovative career conference Kurswechsel" for female PhD Candidates and Postdocs to take place on October 19, 2018 on the Westend campus of Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. This will be the conference’s second year, as it was very well-received by all those who attended last year.
At the conference, we will use various formats to present a wide range of career opportunities in business, non-academic research and other alternative fields:
• Expert panel discussion: “Paths leading away from the sciences “and “'In Conversation”
• Lunch Talk: company representatives will serve as hosts at each table and spend an informal lunch with selected PhD Candidates and Postdocs
• The Opportunity Market: companies, organizations, associations, NGOs and media companies will be at their stands presenting themselves to visitors
• Short lectures/workshops on the subject of setting up an application and applying
Kurswechsel 2018 is a project of Goethe University and Mentoring Hessen in cooperation with the Technical University of Darmstadt and the Technical University of Munich. The project is being carried out by Goethe University’s Equal Opportunities Office, GRADE (Goethe Research Academy for Early Career Researchers) and the Cluster of Excellence "Normative Orders", and was initiated by “Frauen mit Format”.
Registration is made online on www.kurswechsel-konferenz.de . The registration deadline is October 17, 2018 and the conference fee is €40, which includes participation in the program, conference catering and, if necessary, child care.
