Promotion of
Internationalization

A key element of the Helmholtz Graduate School Environmental Health (HELENA) is to promote the international network of graduate students. Your opportunity: 1,500 euros or more for international activities!

International Congresses

The Helmholtz Graduate School Environmental Health (HELENA) supports active participation of its members at international congresses with up to 1,500 euros*. For details and application forms please see download field on the right or contact the graduate student office (gso-spr(at)helmholtz-muenchen.de).

Lab Exchanges

HELENA now starts a new initiative to promote research stays abroad. Following individual review, HELENA will support graduate students with up to 3000 euros for this purpose.

Research stays abroad expand your horizons. In other labs you can learn new techniques essential for your doctoral work, gain new insights into research areas and exchange ideas with international colleagues. Established international networks will help you a lot at numerous stages of your career. International experience is one of the key factors for many positions in academia and industry and important for the successful application for many research grants.  The sooner you begin building your network, the better.

Research stays abroad during your doctoral studies should be planned as early as possible. To apply for funding, please contact the graduate student office as soon as possible (gso-spr(at)helmholtz-muenchen.de).

After the research stay, we ask the graduate student to provide a short report of their research stay for marketing purposes.

*For graduate students with a contract start prior to July 1, 2010, a grant request for up to 500 euros is possible. Please contact the graduate student office (gso-spr(at)helmholtz-muenchen.de) for further information.
