Contracts: The Helmholtz Zentrum München offers 3-year contracts to their graduate students.

Tuition: There are no tuition fees for Graduate Students of HELENA. The only fee required is a registration fee at the Ludwig Maximilian University Munich or the Technical University Munich that amounts to around 100 Euro per year.

Housing: Rent for a room starts at approx. 400 Euros a month and an apartment or small flat for a single person starts at approx. 500 Euro per month. On average our students pay between 400 and 600 Euro for rent (including utilities). Within the first 3 months at the Center, accommodation within the guest house of the Center can be arranged upon request and availability (cost approx. 420 Euro per month). Read more: guest house...

Health Insurance: Health insurance coverage for doctoral students is obligatory. Special insurance contracts for international students start at approximately 50 Euro per month.

Living costs in Munich: The estimated costs of living in Munich are approx. 800-1000 Euro minimum per month for a single person (living expenses and health insurance). Your monthly salary (TVöD EG 13, 50 % and optional bonus payments) will cover the basic living expenses in Munich.
